World class fishing is right outside our bay! There are numerous opportunities for all types of sport fishing including Grouper, Snapper, Tuna, Mahi Mahi (Dorado) Amberjack, Wahoo, Mackerel, Sailfish, and Marlin (and many more). Those who are on the budget and interested in shorter trips, outside of Punta de Mita and Sayulita is excellent for Dorado, Sailfish, Snapper, Roosterfish, and Pargo (Snapper). Trips are 4-5 hours for $400usd.
Located about 20 miles outside of Punta de Mita is “La Corbetena”. A massive rock mound with shallow reefs and steep drop off’s create the fisherman’s dream. La Roca Corbetena attracts Blue and Black Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Pacific Sailfish, Dorado, Jack Cravelle, Mackerel, Pargo and Wahoo. Trips are $600usd for 7-8 hours.
Even further out, the famous underwater sea mount called “El Banco” wins the gold for fishing. This is where the possibilities of hooking onto a 600-lb Marlin or 300-lb Tuna are at. It is a much longer trip and more hours, but well worth it. Trips are $700usd for 8-9 hours.

The surfing here in Sayulita is great for beginners. But if you are an avid surfer and want to catch some waves where the crowds are minimal and waves are exceptional, take a boat out to the breaks. There are several breaks within a 20 minute boat ride from the Marina with the option of doing the early or sunset session.

This amazing protected marine reserve features 3 islands along with an underwater mountain range that creates a world full of reefs, swimming caves, and picturesque beaches. Dolphins, giant manta rays, sea turtles and whales (when in season) are commonly sought. The Islands are also home to several bird species such as the Blue-footed Booby.

November through March, the Humpback Whales make their debut and return to the Bay of Banderas to mate and give birth to their calves.
